A man was taken to hospital after sustaining gunshot wounds on the driveway in front of a house in northwest Calgary early Thursday.
Police said officers were called about a shooting on Evanspark Gardens Northwest at 12:50 a.m.
Police said investigators believe the victim was sitting in his car when another vehicle approached and three masked gunmen got out and started shooting.
They said the victim’s car ended up across the street and hit a garage.
“It was hectic over there (after the shooting),” said Connor Mailey, who lives in the community. “I think I heard about six to eight pops.”
Mailey said a neighbour who works as a first responder rushed to the victim after the shooting to help him with his injuries.
Shell casings were visible outside the home.
Police said the victim was taken to Foothills Medical Centre in stable condition.
Police said they were told a dark-coloured vehicle was seen leaving the area after shots rang out but they did not yet have further details about its description.
“(It’s) very strange,” Sorin Mohorea, a man who lives in the neighbourhood, told Global News. “Very quiet area.”
